No CD/DVD Drives Recognized - remedy

After installing Vista my DVD Rom and DVD RW drives were not recognized. I applied the registry edit as suggested by Microsoft at the following link and both are now fully operational. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320553

About 95% the remedy is this:

This post worked for me even though I had no upperfilters data type. I still deleted the lowerfilters and Vista recognized my Pioneer DVD RW after reboot. Thanks!
